After a long, snowy winter on the East Coast, spring finally arrived along with the convention season. Last week’s AMCP meeting was especially energizing. It was great reconnecting with colleagues, meeting new partners, and sharing the latest developments across our research portfolio.
Obesity Research: Momentum Continues to Build
It seems there’s rarely a week without major news on obesity and GLP‑1 RA therapies. Our own work in this space is also coming into full bloom:
- Our New Publication: “Medication Use for Patients With Obesity: Trends and Characteristics for US Employees” is now available in The American Journal of Managed Care. 2026;32(4)
- Upcoming Presentation: We will present “Trends in the Use of Glucagon-like Peptide-1 Receptor Agonists (GLP-1 RAs), Diagnosis Requirements, and Beneficiary Use Among US Self-Insured Employers” (#3734) at the ISPOR US Annual Meeting in May.
Workers’ Compensation & Health Events: Expanding Insights
Our team has also been advancing research on the real‑world impact of workplace injuries and health events covered under workers’ compensation:
- Our New Publication:  “Hand Eczema in US Employees: A Retrospective Observational Study of Workers’ Compensation and Medical Claims” is now available in Journal of Medical Economics. 2026 Dec;29(1):1164-1179
- Upcoming Presentation: We will present “Hyperlipidemia’s Hidden Real World Impact on Workers’ Compensation Claims in the US”(#3345) at the ISPOR US Annual Meeting in May.
Growth of the Workpartners Research Reference Database (RRDb)
This past year brought significant expansion. The Workpartners RRDb — our integrated employer database — grew 10.5% among employees and 14.5% overall when including spouses and dependents.
We receive and track medical and prescription utilization for all covered individuals. For employees, we also capture five types of absences:
- Discretionary / Incidental Time Off (DITO, including sick leave)
- Short‑term disability
- Long‑term disability
- Workers’ compensation
- Family Medical Leave (FML; tracked as a non‑paid benefit)
This allows us to objectively measure lost time and payments across benefits, providing a uniquely comprehensive view of workforce health and productivity. Because we link employees to their dependents, we’re also able to conduct meaningful caregiver research.
